  • Sparse Grids Matlab Kit

    Author: Lorenzo Tamellini

    The Sparse Grids Matlab Kit is a collection of Matlab functions for high-dimensional quadrature and interpolation, based on the combination technique version of sparse grids. It is lightweight, high-level and (hopefully) easy to use, good for quick prototyping and teaching. It comes with a very extensive documentation and examples. It is somehow geared towards Uncertainty Quantification (UQ), but it is flexible enough for other purposes.

    PortalTS is a modern and scalable Web Portal developed in Typescript and NodeJS. It implements a set of reusable modules, like the User Management and CMS. It also includes a BAAS (Backend-As-A-Service) module. It is developed from the ground-up to simplify the development, deployment and distribution of HTML5 Web Applications and Single Page Web Applications.

    ReMesh is an editor for manifold triangle meshes. Most operations can be performed interactively through mouse-clicks on the mesh. Both low-level (edge-flip, vertex-insert, ...) and high-level (simplification, subdivision, ...) operations are supported.

    MeshFix takes as input a raw digitized polygon mesh and produces a copy of the input where all the occurrences of a specific set of "defects" are corrected. Algorithm based on ideas of "A lightweight approach to repairing digitized polygon meshes" (The Visual Computer, 2010).

    ShapeAnnotator is an open source software project based on the paper "Semantic Annotation of 3D Surface Meshes based on Feature Characterization" (LNCS, SAMT 2007 Procs).

    JMeshLib is a C++ API to work with manifold triangle meshes. It implements an edge-based data structure with all its fundamental functionalities

    EfPiSoft provides an interactive GUI for the inspection and segmentation of 3D surface meshes. EfPiSoft is an implementation of the hierarchical segmentation algorithm.

    TriMesh2MT converts a polygon mesh to a Multi-Triangulation (MT) representing the same shape. The resulting MT may be used to significantly improve the rendering performances when inspecting a complex 3d scene, or simply to produce simplified versions of the shape in realtime.

  • ShapeLab

    The ShapeLab includes all the equipments necessary to deal with the whole life cycle of digital shapes from their definition to their visualisation/inspection in Agumented Reality/Virtual Reality modalities until their physical production through 3D printing: a Minolta Vivid 910 laser scanner, light projectors for texture acquisition, 5 kinects, leapmotion, HTC VIVE, Hololens, a Flashforge Kreator 3D printer.

    e-infrastructure for Visualization Virtual Services

    The Visualization Virtual Services (VVS) is an infrastructure combining databases for the archival of shapes and software tools for their processing. The VVS is among the results of the VISIONAIR project as a revised version of the Digital Shape Workbench (DSW) developed by the AIM@SHAPE consortium, whose direct benefit is to provide the means for sharing digital resources, such as tools and models, for the preparation of virtual scenes and experiments for any graphical and VR settings. To a larger extent, the VVS fosters the re-use of program components and testing models for speeding-up research in digital shapes, and as such, it may be regarded as an e-Science support in the field of scientific visualisation. The VVS is conceived as an operational, distributed and web-based resource repository which involves the integration of the Shape Repository, the Tool Repository and the Ontology and Metadata Repository, together with an advanced Search Framework.

    HPC Resources

    At the moment, two HPC clusters are available:

    1. an homogeneous cluster equipped with two computing nodes, 32 cores and 256 Gb RAM;
    2. an heterogeneuos cluster composed by three nodes, each equipped with two Intel Xeon E5645 processors (six cores each), 32 GB of RAM, and an nVidia GTX 580 GPU.
