Tuesday, 20 September 2016, 3 p.m. (sharp), Dr. Hosek Radim, Mathematical Institute of the Czech Academy of
Sciences, Prague, at the conference room of IMATI-CNR in Pavia, will give a lecture titled:
CONVERGENT FINITE DIFFERENCE SCHEME FOR COMPRESSIBLE NAVIER-STOKES IN THREE SPATIAL DIMENSIONS
as part of the Applied Mathematics Seminar (IMATI-CNR e Dipartimento di Matematica, Pavia).
At the end a refreshment will be organized.
Motivated by works of Karper, we propose a finite difference scheme
for the system of compressible Navier-Stokes equations and show its
convergence to a weak solution of the problem. The proof follows the
analytic proof of the existence of weak solutions to CNS system
developed by Lions and uses discrete results analogous to the more
famous continuous ones.
