Friday, 24 June 2016, 10 a.m. (sharp), Prof. Alessandro Russo (Universita' di Milano-Bicocca), at the conference room of IMATI-CNR in Pavia, will give a lecture titled:
The Virtual Element Method: New Results and Perspectives
as part of the Franco - Italian Seminar.
The Virtual Element Method is an extension of the classical Finite Element Method which allows to use a decomposition of the computational domain consisting of general polygons and polyhedra. In this talk I will first present an overview of the theory together with several applications to the approximation of classical PDE problems. Then I will discuss future perspectives and open problems.
