At 3 p.m. (sharp), at the conference room of IMATI-CNR in Pavia,  Prof. Viorel Barbu, "Al.I. Cuza" University of Iasi, Romania, will give a lecture titled: 

STOCHASTIC INFINITE DIMENSIONAL EQUATIONS VERSUS DETERMINISTIC EQUATIONS

and at 4 p.m,  Prof. Gabriela Marinoschi, ISMMA, Bucharest, Romania, will give a lecture titled:

AN INVERSE PROBLEM FOR MOVING IMAGES

as part of the Applied Mathematics Seminar (IMATI-CNR and Department of Mathematics - University of Pavia).
Between the two lectures a refreshment will be organized.

Abstract Barbu's seminar.

It is discussed the relationship between infinite dimensional stochastic equations of monotone type and corresponding deterministic equations. One explains when and whether the existence theory for stochastic equations reduces to existence theory for deterministic equations. Why this is not always possible?

Abstract Marinoschi's seminar.

This work is concerned with the existence, uniqueness and approximation for the solution to an optimal control problem governed by a parabolic equation with control in the drift term. The main motivation of this inverse problem arises from the approach of the optical flow identification.
This is a joint work with Viorel Barbu.
