  • Andrea Clematis is a Research Director at CNR - IMATI since 2001. He graduated in Mathematics at the University of Genoa in March 1982. In 1983 he was a consultant for TXT Software Telematics Milano participating in the project MML (Multi Micro programming Line). In 1984 he joined the Institute for Applied Mathematics of the National Research Council. In 1988 he was Visiting Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of University of Nebraska Lincoln. Since 1988 he has been, for several periods, an adjunct professor at the University of Genoa. From 2003 to 2011 Andrea Clematis has been Chair of the Euromicro Technical Committee on Parallel and Distributed Processing. He is subject area editor for Parallel Computing of the Journal of Systems Architecture – Embedded Software Design - Elsevier. He is the Italian Member of Management Committee of the COST Action "Open European Network for High Performance Computing on Complex Environments" (COST- IC0805 – May 2009 – May 2013). He has been the scientific coordinator for IMA and IMATI participation to more than 30 research projects founded by international institutions (including NATO, British Council, EU), national institutions, local body administrations and private companies. In FP7 he coordinates the participation of IMATI to the following projects: DRIHMS ( www.drihms.eu ) , DRIHM (www.drihm.eu) , DRIHM2US ( www.drihm2us.eu ). He published more than 150 papers on referred journals, book chapters, referred conference proceedings. His research interests include the following topics: Parallel Computing, Parallel algorithms for spatial data processing, Parallel algorithms for image processing, Grid and Cloud, Software fault tolerance, Compiler design, Embedded systems. In his research activity he applied parallel and distributed processing in different fields including: Geographic Information Systems; Bioinformatics; Infomobility and transportation Systems; Research Infrastructures for Meteorological and hydrological Science; Cloud Services for Small Medium Enterprises; Grid Computing in Industrial Applications; Cooperative Environments and Future Internet.
