This research contract is committed to IMATI by the Earth Science department of the University of Genova, and deals with the study of a computational tool able to depict the thermochemical features of complex silicate melts.
The objective of this research is to support the computation and analysis of the so-called liquidus hypersurface using geometry-based techniques. While traditional methods derive the liquidus using numeric approximation techniques, the approach we propose is based on the analysis of a convex hull, which appears to be much more robust and reliable. The computed samples of the liquidus are interpolated through a simplicial complex to produce a continuous model.
